Meet the Speedwell Construction Team

Co-Presidents

Gary started his career in the construction business in the field and gained valuable knowledge and experience. He found that the most important value to his customer was delivering a quality product. Knowing this, Gary, along with his father-in-law John Ebersole, established Speedwell Construction in 1990. Gary and John founded the company on the values of diligence, respect, humility and a sense of urgency to create construction solutions that are designed to build relationships. Gary’s project management skills ensured projects were properly planned, executed and handled with excellence, service and trust. This work ethic was paramount in developing Speedwell’s reputation as one of the most quality-minded construction companies in the region.

Gary’s current role includes strategic initiatives, operation management, and oversight of the company. Gary’s four sons are continuing the mission with all of them having worked at Speedwell over the years and three currently on staff to carry these quality relationships into the next generation.

Gary enjoys riding motorcycles, snowmobiling and trips to the mountains and beach. He has served on several mission trips and is an active member of LCBC Church. Gary and his wife Christine have four sons and a daughter who are all married and are enjoying this season of being grandparents with their 9 grandchildren.

Vice Presidents & Officers

Mark brings over 30 years of commercial, historical, and ecclesiastical construction experience to the Speedwell Team. Mark holds a B.S. in Bible and Professional Counseling from Lancaster Bible College as well as certifications in Construction Science from Clemson University. To help pay his way through college, Mark worked on the concrete crew for Horst Construction and spent time on a framing crew for a Lebanon County residential builder.  This eventually resulted in a superintendent role and then project manager position for a Lancaster County general contractor.  It was in 2016 that Mark found his home with Speedwell Construction.  First as a project manager, then in 2018 as VP of Construction.  

Mark believes that the best way to provide value to our customers is to equip and develop the teams serving them.  You’ll often hear Mark speak with intensity about Speedwell Constructions core values and culture and how these must be lived out in all aspects of the job. In his spare time, Mark enjoys working on home projects, playing soccer, and spending time with his family enjoying nature.  Mark serves in leadership on the boards of; Manheim Brethren in Christ Church, Live 10:27 Ministries and Iron Valley United.  Mark and his wife, Christine, have four adult daughters.  The family has grown to include sons-in-law and 4 grandchildren.  Mark and his family have volunteered on various mission trips in countries such as Haiti, Jamaica, El Salvador, Albania, and Kenya. 

Jon grew up locally in Denver, PA and attended Lebanon Valley College where he received a double major in Business and Spanish. He began his construction career working with residential kitchens, additions, and renovations as an Industrial Services Project Manager with Wickersham Construction. Jon joined the Speedwell team in 2015 as a project manager and is now Vice President of Design/Build. He enjoys seeing concepts come to life through the design and construction process and helping clients expand their organizations.

Jon is married to Lori and they have a son and a daughter. Their family enjoys camping and spending time outdoors. They live in Manheim Township and attend Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jon’s hobby is working on cars, restoring vehicles. One of his favorites was a 1990 Chevy Pickup with a 6.2L Detroit diesel engine in it!

Randy was born and raised in Lancaster County and has a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Science from Penn State University. Randy joined Speedwell in 2017 after spending the previous 4 ½ years serving as a Construction Manager in Africa for a mission organization. Randy brings 38+ years of experience in commercial construction to his role as VP of Estimating. Over the years Randy has gained vast knowledge of construction working with many churches, townships, school districts, commercial, and industrial clients.

Randy is married to his wife Mary Anna and has two sons who are married (2 grandsons) and one daughter who is engaged. He enjoys hunting, fly fishing, and spending time with family. Randy has served overseas in Hungary, Haiti, and Cuba (short term trips) and lived in Zambia and Liberia. He continues to serve by supporting missionaries, serving on the board of FARMS International, and heads the Missions Committee at Mohn’s Hill E. C. Church.

Dennis joined Speedwell Construction in 2011 and handles finance, accounting, IT, safety and human resources. He most enjoys working with the great people that make up the staff at Speedwell Construction.

Dennis has an extensive background in accounting and finance and is a member of IMA and CFMA. Prior to his work at Speedwell Construction, Dennis worked as a Finance Manager for a church and a school and was the Chief Financial Officer for a real estate management and development company.

In his spare time, Dennis enjoys spending time with his wife Beth and their 4 children and engaging in fly fishing, sports and outdoor activities.

Senior Project Managers

Bob is originally from Springfield in Delaware County and attended Drexel University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Construction Management. Prior to his work at Speedwell Construction, Bob spent 14 years working with local contractors on commercial and Industrial projects and then served as a Construction Engineer for a large industrial plant for 13 years.

Bob joined Speedwell Construction in 2014. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and his job involves guiding and assisting the Job Superintendents to ensure customers are happy and receiving a quality product, on time and on budget. He most enjoys seeing a project come together quickly and smoothly.

Bob is married to Becky and they have 3 daughters and one granddaughter. His youngest daughter just graduated from Pittsburgh University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Bob and his wife live in East Hempfield and enjoy traveling to warmer climates and have recently taken up daily walking.

Brenton is originally from Lancaster County and was previously a project manager for a commercial construction company. He joined the Speedwell team in 2018 as a project manager and was promoted to a senior project manager in 2021. He is involved in both bid spec and design build projects. Brenton enjoys building relationships with each client and walking alongside them through the process.

Brenton and his wife Angela have 3 children. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling with family, fly fishing, and living vicariously through his children

Ned is originally from Lebanon and attended the Associated Builders and Contractors Apprenticeship Program. Before joining Speedwell’s team, he was a construction site foreman with over 25 years of field experience and completed 30 hours of OSHA training.

Ned joined Speedwell Construction in 1997 as a project manager. He currently oversees projects to coordinate trades and maintain the budget and schedule. He most enjoys taking a unique approach to each project to create the best result for his clients.

Ned is married to Diane, and they live in Cornwall, PA. They are blessed with two married daughters and 6 grandchildren. When there’s snow, he enjoys snowmobiling.

SteveOberholtzer

Steve is originally from Manheim and previously owned his own construction company. He then joined Speedwell Construction in 1998 as a superintendent, working on projects including shopping malls, medical facilities, design/build and various other commercial and industrial work. He was then promoted to project manager and especially enjoys jobs that are unique, challenging, and show true quality workmanship.

Steve is married to Lisa and their grown son lives in Sweden with his wife and their 3 small children, while their daughter and her husband live nearby. Steve and Lisa live in Lititz, the “Best Small Town in America” and attend the Fruitville Pike Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In his free time, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, hiking, diving, bike riding, and working on volunteer construction projects.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, NC OFFICE

Jeff Calhoun is originally from Upstate New York. He attended Buffalo State University and received an associate’s degree in Coaching followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations. Jeff eventually followed his interest in building and fixing things and relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1994. While there he oversaw over 50 hotel projects, multi-family projects, warehouse and retail spaces. He got connected with Speedwell when he was a Director of Construction and Development and Speedwell built a new Woodspring Hotel for him. Jeff Joined the Speedwell team in 2023 to create and run the Charlotte, North Carolina office, located in Matthews. He enjoys the feeling of it being a team effort while working with Speedwell associates.

Jeff is married to Sarah, and together they have three daughters and one son, as well as a grandson. When not at work, he enjoys coaching baseball, hunting, and fishing.

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

A graduate of Messiah College (2013) and a 4-year member of the wrestling team, Travis brings his passion for people and design to his work. He joined Speedwell in 2016 as a Project Engineer and was later promoted to Project Manager, and then Senior Project Manager. He is now a partner in the business and believes the key to success is clear communication and understanding the needs of the owner to ensure project goals are met throughout the construction process. Travis thrives on projects built from the ground up, especially when collaborating with detail-oriented clients.

In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, particularly hunting and fishing. Travis lives in Jonestown with his wife Erika, their three daughters, Ginny, Harper, and Myla, and Rottweiler, Mocha. He and his family are active members of their church at Lancaster Evangelical Free Church in Lititz.

Project Managers

Brian is originally from Salisbury, North Carolina, the home of Cheerwine soft drink and NC Barbeque! He attended Gardner Webb University and was a Chemistry major. His career as a project manager has spanned over 20 years including commercial, multi-Family, the PGA Tour, and building a vocational school in Kitale, Kenya.

Brian joined Speedwell Construction in 2017 as project manager, overseeing our renovation and small design-build projects. He now works as a project manager on larger projects and Brian loves working with owners and customers through design, budget and completion of a project.

Brian is married to Carrie and has four daughters that keep him busy outside of work. He enjoys playing field hockey with his daughters, running and serving on 3 boards in the community. Brian’s family lives in Elizabethtown, Go Bears!

Joe joined Speedwell Construction in 2021 as a Project Manager, overseeing all phases of construction. He has a demonstrated record of exceeding client expectations and achieving above industry standard levels of satisfaction on education, senior living, multi-family, retail and healthcare projects.

Joe has a BS in Business Management from The Penn State University, a BS in Construction Management, and an AAS in Building Construction Technology from The Pennsylvania College of Technology. He has also completed the OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour trainings. Joe currently resides in Exeter Township and enjoys camping, skiing, baseball and traveling with family and friends.

Guy began his career as a Project Manager in 2008, while also pursuing a Master of Science degree in Construction Management at Drexel University.  Since that time, he has managed the construction of two new high schools, numerous residential projects, MEP upgrades at critical communication hubs, and upgrades for a medical facility.  He is currently managing a number of new convenience stores & gas stations, as well as an auto dealership.  Guy enjoys building relationships as he teams with others to deliver an end product that meets the client’s vision. Guy joined the Speedwell Construction team in 2023 and loves the company’s unique ability to handle a large volume of work, while maintaining a family-like atmosphere.

Guy returned to his hometown of Lancaster, Pa in 2008 after spending 10 years in Philadelphia.  Outside of construction, Guy is married with a family of five daughters.  He spends much of his spare time at his kid’s soccer and gymnastics events.  Time permitting, he also enjoys yard projects, running and lifting weights.

Linford is a proud native of Lancaster County, PA, with a passion for construction that began after his graduation in 1994. Over the years, he’s specialized in managing large-scale projects including hotels, churches, and multi-family residences. His experience has taught him the critical role of teamwork in delivering projects on time and within budget.

Linford says “At Speedwell Construction, I’ve found a team that shares my commitment to building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and coworkers. Together, we prioritize collaboration and integrity in everything we do.”

Outside of work, Linford enjoys cycling, strength training, social networking, skiing, and spending quality time with his wife Sandra and their eight kids. Supporting his 4 daughters and 4 sons in their sports and activities is a big part of his life.

Sam is local who grew up in Denver and went to Lititz Christian High School. He then graduated from Messiah College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Operations and Technology Management and a minor in Marketing. Sam joined the Speedwell team in 2109 as a project assistant/coordinator/engineer. Most recently, as a Special Project Manager, some of his favorite projects were a renovation of Hosanna Church/Lititz Christian School, the renovation of Country Meadows Bethlehem and a vacuum project with Mister Car Wash of Ephrata.  Sam was recently promoted to Project Manager and enjoys the connections he has made with Speedwell coworkers, subcontractors and customers he’s gotten to know.

Sam is married to Megan, and they enjoy being outside, boating, playing and watching sports and traveling. Sam also enjoys volunteering for his church tech team at Lancaster Evangelical Free Church in Lititz and coaching youth soccer in Manheim.

Bradford was born and raised in Manheim, Pennsylvania where Speedwell’s main offices are located. After graduating from Manheim Central High School, Brad earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University. Before joining Speedwell in 2024, he worked with a firm specializing in prevailing wage jobs and was integral in two fire station projects with budgets totaling over 20 million. Recent projects include a bathroom remodel for The Hershey Company and a comprehensive office renovation for MWI Vet Supply.

Brad says about Speedwell: “I appreciate the company’s family-oriented culture and the sense of community it fosters among employees.”

Brad met his wife Mikayla while in college and they are expecting their first child. He is looking forward to becoming a parent soon and enjoys spending quality time with his family.

Mitchell grew up in Lititz and was previously an HVAC installation technician before joining the Speedwell team in 2019 as an Estimator. As an estimator, he had the opportunity to bid and be awarded a wide range of different projects including warehouses, hotels, gas stations, renovations and office spaces. He learned how crucial effective communication, meeting deadlines, and understanding the needs of owners are for the success of a project. Since becoming a Service Project Manager in 2024, he has enjoyed being more client facing and working more directly with owners on projects.

Mitchell lives in Mount Joy with his wife Caity and their German shorted-haired pointer Montana. In his free time, he loves to spend time outdoors or working on projects for his friends and family. He and his wife serve together in the children’s ministry at their church LCBC in Manheim.

Business Development

Sheldon grew up locally in Manheim and attended Messiah College where he completed a degree in Business Administration. Following Messiah, Sheldon worked in the financial industry in Philadelphia. He joined the Speedwell team in 2017 as the Business Development Manager and is now a partner in the business. His responsibilities include marketing, sales and lead generation. He most enjoys seeking new opportunities and forming meaningful relationships with potential clients.

He now lives in Lititz with his wife, Lisa, and young family of two daughters and a son. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer, following Philadelphia sports teams and golfing.

Dave works at Speedwell Construction as one of the Business Development Managers. He joined Speedwell in 2016 as an assistant superintendent. He was quickly promoted to superintendent where he helped run projects for 5 years. He really enjoys connecting with people, building relationships with clients and seeing a project reach completion.

He graduated from Lancaster Bible College with a B.S. in Bible. He has been married since 2001 and has 4 children. In his free time, he enjoys coaching his kids’ sports adventures, participating in any competition and going out to eat with his wife.

Design Team

Pete is originally from Lancaster and attended Penn State University, earning both an Associate degree in Architectural Engineering Technology and a Bachelor of Architecture. During his career, he worked for architecture firms, a general contractor and an engineering firm before joining the Speedwell team in 2015. He is a Registered Architect with Speedwell Design. His experience includes commercial, industrial, educational and church building projects. He oversees Speedwell’s design team as they cover the design process from preliminary sketches through construction documents.

Pete is married to Amy and together they have two daughters. Pete and his family attend Lancaster Evangelical Free Church in Lititz. Away from the office, Pete enjoys following Phillies baseball, working on home improvements, traveling to new places and photographing buildings.

Ben is a local, who grew up here in Manheim, PA. He attended Penn State University and received a Bachelor of Architecture with a minor in Architectural History. While in college, he worked with a general contractor to gain construction knowledge. Ben joined the Speedwell team in 2016. He is a Registered Architect with Speedwell Design. He has over 25 years of experience in architectural design and construction including commercial, educational, industrial, senior care facilities, and ecclesiastical projects. He coordinates and manages the pre-construction design process for projects. He most enjoys revitalizing and rehabilitating old buildings.

Ben is married to Kami and they are parents to 5 children. They live right on the square of Manheim in an historic home. Away from the office, Ben enjoys spending time with his family, working on carpentry projects and constructing theatrical sets with his wife.
